Zambia The Last Wilderness
Teeming with game yet absent of visitors, Zambia is one of the last havens of unspoiled Africa.

On this extraordinary safari, you'll explore two of its most remote wilderness sanctuaries. Choked with hippos and crocodiles, the great Luangwa River in South Luangwa National Park supports herds of elephant, buffalo, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe, and is renowned for excellent leopard sightings. Wedged between a mountainous escarpment and a mighty river, Lower Zambezi National Park adds scenic grandeur to superb wildlife watching. Cruises (and optional canoeing) on the Zambezi among pods of hippos and flocks of water birds lend a new perspective to game viewing, while drives on the floodplain generate sightings of the big cats and wild dogs.

Game drives in open vehicles, walking safaris, night drives, and boating safaris make this an active and fascinating wilderness safari.

Day 1 - Meet in Lusaka, Zambia. Transfer to Chaminuka Private WIldlife Reserve.

Day 2 - Charter flight to Mfuwe, at the entrance to South Luangwa National Park. Overnight at beautiful Mfuwe Lodge overlooking Mfuwe Lagoon, a prolific wildlife area. Walks and game drives in Luangwa, with its incredible variety of flora and fauna, including exceptional birdlife.

Day 3-5 - Move to Kuyenda Bush Camp, a wonderful seasonal bush camp near the Mwanzi Sand River. It is an excellent locale for game drives by day or night, and for walks.

Days 6-8 - Drive south to the remote Chendeni Bush Camp for game drives and walks along the great Luangwa River. This is big game country, known for its large resident pride of lions.

Day 9 - Drive back to Mfuwe lodge where we will explore the tracks north of our lodge along an old river channel, Luangwa Wafwa, which has an abundance of hippos, monster crocodiles, flocks of bee-eaters and herds of elephants. Day and night drives.

Days 10-12 - Fly to an airstrip in Lower Zambezi National Park and take a game drive to Chiawa Lodge, a safari camp on the banks of the Zambezi River. Enjoy boating excursions, foot safaris, canoeing, and game drives in open vehicles.

Day 13 - Boat trip downriver to Old Mondoro, a lovely and remote bush camp. This is the best place in the park for seeing wild dogs.
